There Is No Fountain of Youth but Here's How You Can Live 10, 20 Even 30 Years Longer
The Legend:
Once upon a time, centuries ago, the famous Spanish explorer, Ponce de Leon searched for the Fountain of Youth on the plains of Seminole Indian country (aka Florida), Americans (especially of the Baby Boomer generation) still yearn for that magic bullet who can immediately transform them back to the vim, vigor, and good looks of the 50's...ahhh, the good ol' days. By the way, did anyone ever question what was so good. Ok, there was relative peace and prosperity as American was reveling in the crushing of the then evil empires of Germany and Japan while embracing tons of steel cars designed like boats or rockets. But how about the Korean War, McCarthyism, the Cold War, digging fallout shelters for fear of a nuclear war, Russia launching Sputnik thus panicking the US government, Russia's invasion of Hungary, the Cuban Revolution signaling Communisms entry into the Western Hemisphere?...well, all good topics for debating what constitutes "good ol'" but back to the task at hand...our long lost youth
There is little doubt that people in America are now living longer...but who wants that if you are confined to a wheelchair, undergoing daily insulin treatments, can't climb a set of stairs without gasping for air? Dr. Gregory Ellis has taken a lifetime of research into weight control, diseases, toxins, remedies, herbs, medicine, et al and translated it into a readable, enjoyable body of work called THERE IS NO FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH but Here's How You Can Live 10, 20, Even 30 Years Longer.
Gimmicks, marketing hype, overpriced skin care and over-hyped vitamin solutions are all long on promise but short on delivery. Dr. Ellis tells you the good news and the bad. He puts solid information into your hands about lifestyle, nutrition, exercise, modern medicine, and whole host of details that you thought that you understood but, most likely, do not. Some of his suggestions date back centuries into the Chinese civilization which, by the way, has been around for roughly 15-20 times longer than we've been a country.
What you need to know is that Dr. Ellis has tried it all during his lifetime and career...vegetarianism, low fat diets, low carb diets, exercises from yoga to Olympic-style training. He's done body composition studies on thousands of people in a very sophisticated lab. Armed with this information, he'll save you the trauma and drama of wondering if you've got it right in your quest for quality of life. By the way, it all starts at birth but you can make a "comeback" later in life...if you start TODAY!
Summary of Book and Author's Inspiration:
Dr. Gregory Ellis began his odyssey to understand the Laws of Nature as they apply to health and disease when he became a teenager. Alarmed because he was plagued with big-time diseases such as high blood pressure at age 12, Dr. Ellis turned to a group of mentors outside the boundaries of mainstream medicine. He learned about the powerful forces of self-healing possessed by his own body. Wondering how he could tap into these powerful forces, he began years of arduous study and experimentation. He came to understand the mechanisms whereby each person possesses the power to turn himself into a self-maintaining and self-healing machine. Many of these methods had been understood for thousands of years, but modern medicine refuted them and created its own, non-natural methods instead of relaying upon mother nature. Today, medicine is a monopoly and does little to prevent the dramatic increases of early onset aging such as diabetes, cancer, and chronic pain now experienced by Western cultures. Dr. Ellis uncovers and outlines hiss personal anti-aging strategies gleaned from more than 45 years of experimentation. Many say that he looks 20 years younger than his chronological age of 58.
The Longevity Road Warrior speaks out.
An excerpt from Dr. Ellis's Antiaging article
Centenarians are the fastest growing segment of our population. The first "baby boomers" recently turned 50 years old and this 70-million strong group is now called the "elder boomer" generation. This group has a high level of education, a high level of income, and attempts to practice good health habits.
It is my contention that many of the "good health practices" currently recommended by the modern medical monopoly are, at best, useless, and, at worst, health destroying. As a youngster who suffered from obesity, high blood pressure, skin diseases, and emotional challenges, I received no help from modern medicine other than the use of drugs, drugs, and more drugs.
Fortunately, medicine, in those years, did not maintain the strangle-hold that it now has on everyone's actions and beliefs about health and disease. There was still an anti-medicine group who chose not to bow to medicine's attempts to control and dictate health practices and beliefs. That modern medicine is predicated on treating disease and knows little of the acquisition of optimal health is well known.
Throughout my life, I continued to experiment and practice, gradually gaining an understanding of the practices and lifestyle that I could follow to provide excellent health for myself and my loved ones.
Although more people are living longer, Health Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) isn't keeping pace with the aging process. Medicine has an abysmal record in dealing with the ever-growing problem of chronic disease that now threatens the nation. Obesity (more than 60% of the population), cardiovascular disease, arthritis, chronic fatigue, cancer, and diabetes are only a few of the conditions that plague our aging population.
For example, a recent study showed that of 1,168 males suffering from obesity (average age of 55 years) that a large number of them suffered from at least one or more other poor health conditions (co-morbid illness): 61% had mild levels of co-morbid illness, 21% had moderate co-morbid illness, 14% had severe, and only 5% were free of co-morbid illness.
At age 58, I'm not obese and maintain a body fat percent of between 5-10%, my blood pressure is normal, and I suffer no other health problems. Obviously, this is an unusual condition to be in for a U.S. male in my age group, and in any age group for that matter.
I am constantly questioned by people from both sexes, across a wide range of ages, about my "secrets" for maintaining my health as the aging process goes on. It's precisely for this reason that I've written my landmark book, There Is No Fountain of Youth, But Here's How You Can Live 10, 20, Even 30 Years Longer.
This ground-breaking book is not beholden to any institutional boundaries, to any claustrophobic think tank, and to any rules of conformity. The book describes what I've found that works, no matter what school of thought stands behind my protocols. The methods cross all boundaries and take from modern science, modern medicine, alternative medicine, nutrition, ancient healing philosophies, and "unaccepted" healing ideas as well.
