Net Carb Scam and The Hazards of Carbohydrates
...an expose on the food industry that exposes exactly what large manufacturers are doing to trick you into buying their carbohydrate laden products destined to make you gain body fat if you don't understand what's going on.
The Legend:
The saga of Dr. Robert Atkins is still being written. Last year, he passed away after decades of trying to convince whoever would listen that low carb dieting was next to Godliness. One of the final chapters in his legacy passed recently with the demise of his food company, Atkins Nutritionals, as apparently the low carb craze of the early 2000's has seriously waned. WHY! Dr. Gregory Ellis, author of 6 books ranging from diets to exercise to autism, has come up with the answers to WHY LOW CARB DIET FAIL...and it is good news for you, the readers!
Before you put away those recipes for Meat, Cream, and all the goodies that Atkins told you were OK, you'd better grab a copy of Net Carb Scam.
Very simply, Dr. Ellis will explain to you why LOW CARB DIETS DO WORK!
What you need to understand is that whenever a successful phenomenon in science comes along, marketers who want to cash in on the magic start spending billions of dollars chasing the trend with their foods, books, supplements, and a barrage of cleverly cloned products. On the other side of the spectrum, there are a bunch of hysterical companies whose market shares and sales are plummeting like the stock market on Black Monday in 1929. They must fight back. The result: These same latter companies has a tendency to bend the truth just a tad (in other works, LIE) so that they can continue to sell you their products.
In the case of the Low Carb Diet craze, one fact prevailed: sales of manufacturers of carb-laden foods (like potatoes, breads, pastas, sugar heavy ingredients) all took a major hit. So, not be deterred, theses same manufacturers got right back into another endeavor...manufacturing creative labels. How did it all work? Well, you see, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), who is charged with smacking such companies on the wrist when they transgress, was slightly overwhelmed when it came to policing thousands of food manufacturers with hundreds of thousands of labels. They just didn't have the police force to do so. Sensing this vulnerability and skirting the letter of the law, manufacturers came up with a clever little badge of honor called "NET CARBS" or "IMPACT CARBS." How this worked is that they disclosed only the carbohydrate grams that supposedly increased sugar levels thus insulin levels (the hormone your body releases to remove sugar from the blood stream) and left the balance of the carb grams to the nutritional panels found on the BACK of the package. So, a nutrition bar with 35 grams of carbs (guaranteed to make you fat if you dined on several of them per day without working off the calories with exercise) magically was transformed into 3 NET CARBS! Magic? Now you see ‘em, now you don't!
This is little like filling your car's gas tank with 20 gallons then saying to the cashier at the filling station "Ok, what do I owe you for those 2 gallons?" In other words, you body must account for those extra 32 carb grams (carrying 128 calories) that you've just shoveled into the furnace (your body) in about 5 minutes. They've got to be dealt with sooner or later.
So, Dr. Ellis gives you simple, straight forward talk as to what you need to know about "Net Carbs" and, frankly, how you've been scammed and what to do about it. If you want to enjoy your food again without lingering questions or guilt, this book is for you.
Summary:
These are fascinating but confusing times for anyone who's interested in their weight, their appearance, their health, their longevity, and their performance. The primary tool used by people who want to do their best in the above areas is diet, what they eat. And, there are millions of people writing about what people should eat; so many, in fact, that it boggles one's mind. It seems as if everyone claims to have the answers.
The most rapidly growing diet plan is that of the low-carbohydrate eating style. More than one hundred million Americans are purported to be eating low-carb. In fact, Time Magazine's May 3, 2004 issue featured a cover story called Low Carb Nation.
This story raised more questions than answers. Even the Time writers are thoroughly confused about how it all works: What more could one expect from a journalist. Importantly, however, a critical assessment of the knowledge base of even our most revered scientific and medical researchers shows that they are possessed of misinformation too.
I, Dr. Gregory Ellis, know why. I'm a trained physiologist and biochemist, as well as a student of the history of how the human body processes food as fuel. I have just released the most ground-breaking diet book ever written. It's thesis is that we have been barking up the wrong tree for a very long time and our infatuation with carbohydrates has led to an enormous misunderstanding of what we should eat. This misunderstanding clouds everyone's thinking and has led to an endless outpouring of dietary misinformation.
This manifests itself in the current dietary confusion. No one has understood the source and roots of this confusion, that is, no one until Dr. Gregory Ellis. What's so unique about Net Carb Scam and the Hazards of Carbohydrates is that it is not just another presentation of someone's ideas. Often we receive information that an author believes is true when, in fact, it's not. Since the information base is so misunderstood, and the scientific information that is available is incorrect, authors re-package and deliver misinformation to the public. They also use the misinformation that they possess to develop their so-called eating plan or weight management plan that's wrong from the moment it's conceived because the fundamental basis of the plan is wrong.
In my book, I describe and explain exactly why everyone has it wrong, how they've looked in the wrong places and just acquired wrong information. Historically, some false assumptions were made which sent the whole of the scientific community down the wrong road in its research. I characterize our current working model as the gluco-centric paradigm and detail the facts that underlie the coming revolution that will focus itself on the more correct, far more correct, fat-centric paradigm.
Facts are facts. And it just so happened that through my long research career I was able to uncover the necessary information to tell everyone what they've never heard before. What led to this result? It occurred because of my far ranging research into questions related to the ideal diet for bodyweight and body fat control along with a search for the diet for optimal health. One of my key findings was that the idea that fat and cholesterol caused heart disease was false. In fact, it was more likely that one of the main causes of most disease is glucose, the end product of carbohydrate digestion.
What I'm telling you is that all the answers about what is the optimal diet are out there. In fact, it's all over, it's all done, the puzzle has been solved. We have all the answers, but no one has ever put them together before, unified the knowledge base, and then put it between a front and back cover of a book until now.
Some have asked for my references to the scientific literature. In the past, I have refused to hand over my forty-five year work product, but, now, it's all in the book, in extensive footnotes, even my own ground-breaking published research.
About the Author:
Overwhelmed by the marketing mischief of the food companies who are trying to cash in on the low-carbohydrate phenomenon, I first decided to expose their outrageous lies for the benefit of all those following the low-carbohydrate lifestyle.
My assessment then proceeded to detail all the facts underlying human biochemistry and exactly how the body works in processing food as fuel. Through a meticulous examination of the biochemistry of the body, much of it worked out only in the last ten years, I provide my readers with a scheme for food use by the body that simply is not available anywhere else. These are not my IDEAS but are the WAY THINGS WORK. Undeniable and unassailable.
So, if you want to find out once and for all everything there is to know about how food affects you and your body, you will not want to miss Dr. Gregory Ellis's Net Carb Scam and the Hazards of Carbohydrates.
In addition, I have recently released my anti-aging book, There Is No Fountain of Youth But Here's How You Can Live 10, 20, Even 30 Years Longer. In this book, I tell the story of how carbohydrates are one of the most toxic substances on the planet and describe fully the process of glycation, the main killer and disease-maker known today -- all because of carbohydrates.
All of the information contained in these books is not available anywhere else. Much of the content of these books is THE FIRST TIME EVER that this information has ever been presented.
